Thieves in Motherwell have stolen swings and a see-saw from a house in the Scottish town.

Witnesses were left gobsmacked as the two youths, both suspected to be 16 years old, dismantled the swing and see-saw before loading them into a van in broad daylight.

The Wishaw Press reported that police are now looking for the suspects that stole the play equipment from the home on Linksview Road in the town and it is believed that the perpetrators were wearing black and grey tracksuits respectively.

It is not just Motherwell that has been subject to criminals causing havoc for residents. Youths in North Lincolnshire have vandalised a number of fences across the region with police adding more patrols to combat the ongoing problem.

The authorities in Scunthorpe also had to act to close a bridge in the town to prevent trouble makers throwing rocks at passing cars.

A spokesman for North Lincolnshire police described it as "sad" that the area had to be closed just weeks after it had been opened but maintained that driver safety was its "main priority".
