New metal railings put in front of Hereford Cathedral have been given mixed reviews by locals, but experts believe they fit in with how the building looked in the past.
High, pointed railings have been placed in front of the building as part of a £5.6 million restoration project, which is nearing its conclusion.
And despite some criticism from people visiting the site, others are more accepting, reports the Hereford Times.
Gail Herber, owner of Hereford Framing Centre, told the news provider that she "likes them very much" and that they frame the Cathedral well.
Furthermore, Dominic Harbour, the Cathedral's head of communications, said that they are important for security.
He added: "While the Close will never be closed it does give the message that this is a special place and a place we need to protect."
The Cathedral is thought to date from 1079 and is a Grade I listed building.
