A new set of security bollards in Inverness, the Highlands, has caused controversy as an access group has branded them "invisible".
The barriers are part of a £6 million scheme to regenerate the Scottish town centre but have been criticised as they are seen as hazardous to short-sighted or visually impaired people.
Inverness Access Panel believes that the grey blocks, which are situated on Church Street and Ness Walk, are hard to see and have suggested painting them a different colour to make them more visible for people walking around the centre of the town.
Lachie Smith, chairman of the organisation, told the Inverness Courier: "We have been suggesting for a while that they put a coloured band around the top or cap on it, perhaps yellow or orange, so folk can see it. I haven’t heard of any accidents but they can be difficult to see, especially if it is wet."
It follows outrage in Rhyl, Denbighshire, with residents claiming that the recently installed bollards had been causing "mayhem" around the town.
