A set of 'kissing' security gates has been installed on a lane in Kidderminster, Worcestershire, to stop horses from scaring local children and dog walkers.
The animals have been running amok on Stanklyn Lane and the barriers have been installed to prevent them from going down the bridle path and causing distress for any residents.
Council officials revealed that they had received a number of complaints from walkers and parents that the horses were frightening their children or dogs. It is believed that these new barriers will reduce the problem.
Kidderminster currently has two riding centres which are popular with local enthusiasts, but the authority wants the animals to not be allowed to roam the lanes of the town.
John Aston, Conservative Wyre Forest councillor for Spennells, told the Kidderminster Shuttle: "It's good the gate's been done. We had numerous complaints from people walking down the bridle path to feed the ducks and also people with dogs."
