Councillors and children in Flintshire have been celebrating the news that security fencing is set to go up around a playground as part of a £100,000 initiative.
The Pontybodkin facility, near to the A5104 Corwen Road, will receive the money to help provide new play equipment such as goal posts, shelters and picnic tables to improve the overall look of the site.
Members of the community council have expressed their delight at being able to secure the funding following an application to the Welsh government. Officials now want to get the work underway.
It comes after fellow projects in areas such as Lisburn, Northern Ireland, and Marlow, Buckinghamshire, also received funding to either make improvements or ensure the future of their respective sites.
Carolyn Thomas, councillor, told The Leader: "We are delighted we have been awarded this grant and must thank everybody who has supported us. The funding will be used to install new play equipment, goal posts, a youth shelter, picnic tables, replacement fencing and to improve the area’s appearance."
