Metal gates have gone up in Chester to curb instances of anti-social behaviour.
According to the Chester Chronicle, the gates, at three roads in Lache, were put up at the request of residents concerned about the level of crime and nuisance in their area.
After a consultation between residents and community wardens from Cheshire West and Chester Council, it was decided that a Gating Order would go ahead, with most locals in favour.
The police also increased their patrols in the area.
Alleyways on the roads will have lockable metal gates that mean access will be restricted on a 24/7 basis.
"Gating Orders have proven to be successful in reducing crime and anti-social behaviour and create a feeling of safety within our communities," councillor Richard Short told the newspaper.
"The approach taken demonstrates an example of what can be achieved when the council works with local residents."
Recently, sliding gates were proposed as a measure to stop anti-social behaviour near Willow Brook shopping centre in Bristol.
