Security fencing will be replaced at a football club in Sussex, thanks to a cash donation from the local police force.

Sussex Police has given Ferring Football Club £500 to buy new fencing around the perimeter of its clubhouse, which the club says it needs to improve security after reports of vandalism.

Presenting the cheque to Deane Culver, Ferring's chairman, community support officer Caroline Wilson said: "Ferring Football Club has proven in the past three years to be an invaluable organisation within the village."

"Sussex Police is delighted to be able to help Ferring FC continue their great work," she added.

The cash has come from the Sussex Police Property Act Fund, which collects the money received from confiscated property when it is sold by order of court.

"We would like to thank our local police community support officer for her work in obtaining the grant," the club said in a statement.ADNFCR-3337-ID-800126131-ADNFCR
