The introduction of pedestrian guardrails may be among the improvements made at a car park in Sussex after renovation works were started.

A Sainsbury's car park in Heathfield will see levelling and resurfacing works take place, along with the painting of white lines and a new pedestrian access ramp.

The six-day project comes as part of the supermarket's improvement works on the site, which has recently been converted from a Budgens store, reports

Heathfield store manager, Marco Sarro, told the news provider that the temporary disruption will be worth it in the end.

"As part of our plans Sainsbury's is committed to improving parking facilities at the back of the store," he explained.

"We understand that this may cause some disruption and would thank our neighbours for their patience whilst these works are underway."

It comes after councillor Helen Groves from Highbridge called for more road safety improvements to take place in her area because of the possibility of an accident.
