The need for acoustic fencing could soon be on the rise in one Gloucestershire village, as plans for a new wind farm are unveiled.

Residents of Ingst and some neighbouring villages are strongly opposed to the idea, which will see three turbines being installed just metres away from their homes.

South Gloucestershire councillor and action group member Sarah Pomfret explained that the noise pollution will prove especially problematic.

She commented: "If they go ahead with the plan I will have to close my business.

"The turbines would be far too close to the properties and it's in a green belt. It's just wrong."

Some locals told the Gazette Series that issues of noise pollution have not yet been explained in detail.

It was recently reported by leaderlive.co.uk that residents in Chirk had complained about the humming noise coming from a local factory, which left many unable to sleep at night.
