A woman has welcomed a move to install security bollards on a busy road in Dorset after a string of incidents resulting from icy conditions.
According to the Daily Echo, Susan Kelleher launched a "one-woman campaign" to step up security on Honeymead Lane, in Sturminster Newton, when her home was crashed into twice in the space of three weeks as motorists struggled to control their cars during bad weather earlier this year.
Since raising her concerns with the Local Government Ombudsman, it now looks like steps will be taken to stop further accidents happening during icy weather.
"Things seem to be moving forward," Ms Kelleher told the newspaper.
"The highways team manager has been out to see me and apologised profusely about me having to go to the Ombudsman. He said it shouldn't have gone that far," said Mrs Kelleher.
Andrew Brown, a highways chief at Dorset County Council, outlined to the newspaper the measures that could be taken.
"This involves constructing a build-out to the existing footway in front of the property, incorporating a curbed edge and bollards," he said.
It is thought the measures will be installed in November, in good time for the winter weather.
