Security bollards have been put up at a Scottish town to stop travellers pitching their caravans on land there.
According to the Press and Journal, the bollards were installed next to an open-air pool in Stonehaven after Aberdeenshire Council had managed to move a set of travellers who had occupied the spot for more than three weeks.
It is hoped the security measure will prevent it happening again in the future.
The travellers' presence had stoked tension in the town, with Facebook groups being set up calling for their removal.
"Now that the travellers are gone we hope that the council will take action to prevent the area being used again for such encampments," Stonehaven and District Community Council chairman David Fleming told the newspaper.
"We also welcome the start of the work to put bollards round the old paddling pool area."
Both Aderdeen city and Aberdeenshire councils have been given £160,000 by the Scottish government to deal with unauthorised encampments.
This month, concern was also raised about the height of a pedestrian guardrail at a bridge in Cumbernauld. MSP Cathie Craigie told the Cumbernauld News that the guardrail, at the North Road Bridge, could potentially endanger schoolchildren who regularly cross it.
