The future of security fencing at a park is at the centre of a battle between local residents and the council in Derby.
Residents want to see the security fencing kept up to stop antisocial behaviour but Derby City Council said that the fence has been built in a unsuitable place that restricts certain access to the park, reported This is Derbyshire.
Residents are so keen on preserving the security fencing that they were considering legal action against Barratt Homes if the fence was torn down.
The planning officer has countered this argument by saying in a report that the fence harms "the visual amenities" of the area.
Speaking to the newspaper, Kenny Mann, a local resident, said that he didn't agree with the findings of the report.
He said: "The officer has washed our views down into four wishy-washy points. There are three or four other access points into the park. There isn't the need for one at the front of our homes."
Derby City Council's planning control committee have yet to make a decision on the future of the fence.
Last year pensioners from Dewsbury called on the council to erect security fencing near their homes to "stem the problems" caused by yobs.
