A football club forced that was forced to move to another site will be welcomed back to their old ground this weekend thanks to the addition of security fencing.
According to the Sittingbourne Messenger, Norton Sports had to decamp to Herne Bay in 2008 because, after winning the Kent County League, its ground was found to not be up to the standard needed to cope with the rigours of the top flight.
Instead they shared Winch's Field stadium with Herne Bay Football Club.
However, thanks to improvements to Woodstock Park, which have included the installation of security fencing, the club will enjoy a special homecoming when they play Sevenoaks in the Safety Net Kent League Premier Division this Saturday.
"It has taken a lot of time and planning to get to this stage," club secretary Colin Page told the newspaper.
"We have invested around £15,000 on new hardstanding areas, new fencing and have purchased a new stand but it will all be worthwhile when the boys run out," he added.
Norton Sports was established in 1927.
