Security fencing will be installed to stop cars parking on the grass at the entrance to a picturesque Cornwall town.
Helston will benefit from a £20,000 project to erect fencing and improve surfaces, the Falmouth Packet reports.
The Helston Downsland Charity has said it will continue with the first two stages of the work at the town's Meneage Green.
The security fencing will be deployed in a bid to stop motorists parking their vehicles on the grass, the newspaper said.
Of the four tenders for the works, the two judged to be most cost-effective were chosen.
In about six months, trustees of the charity will meet again to discuss whether any further work should be undertaken.
It was decided that the improvement works should be carried out in stages due to the financial implications.
"To carry out the complete works at once is quite simply beyond the financial capabilities of the Downsland Charity," chairman Keith Reynolds was quoted as saying in September.
