Security fencing has been installed around a play area in Braintree to stop children running onto a busy road.

According to the Braintree and Witham Times, two new playgrounds – Lower King in Beckers Green Road and Twelve Acres – have recently been officially opened.

Braintree Council has spent around £5,000 buying new equipment for both sites.

The protective fencing has been erected around the Twelve Acres area.

Other equipment includes group and toddler swings, a wheelchair-friendly roundabout, and balancing equipment.

Recently, it was reported that security fencing would not be installed around a climbing frame near to a busy road in Oxfordshire.

The Herald Series that temporary security fencing had been trampled down and there were now no more plans to install security measures.

District councillor Margaret Davies told the newspaper: "The new climbing frame is in completely the wrong place. It's about ten yards from the road. It should be taken down.

"Young children are being put at risk because the climbing frame is alongside the road and there is no proper fence separating the two."ADNFCR-3337-ID-800288317-ADNFCR
