Security fencing around a new "outdoor classroom" will provide essential security at a school that is full of creative ideas about how to give children the best education possible.

The security fencing surrounds the innovative open classroom, which seeks to make the most of being outdoors, reported Runcorn and Widnes World.

The project at St Augustine's RC Primary School in Runcorn cost £20,000 to develop.

Elaine Richardson, head teacher, told the newspaper: "The idea is for the children to use the outdoor area, not just for physical exercise and fun, but also as an outdoor classroom."

Funding for the project came from an early years capital grant and devolved formula capital.

The classroom will also be shared by St Augustine’s Pre-School.

The importance of security fencing at schools was made evident last month when two seven-year-old girls went missing from a school for 90 minutes in Devon. The school has since taken action to tighten up security.
