Security fencing has been proposed for a school playground in Bradford – to stop troublemakers targeting the site and its new equipment.
According to the Telegraph & Argus, an eight foot fence, costing £38,000, will be installed at Our Lady of Victories School, in Keighley, if Bradford Council approves the plan.
There is a fence currently in place at the school, but it is too low and is in a state of disrepair, meaning intruders have been able to climb over with ease.
Vandals have daubed graffiti on play equipment and even defecated, the newspaper said.
If the plan goes ahead, the new fencing will be attached to the old fence to create a more significant security presence.
Headteacher John Devlin told the newspaper: "The broad aim is to protect the children at playtimes – that's a period when they are most vulnerable.
"As well as acting as a means of security, it (the fence) would also improve the environment around the school," he added.
Recently, security fencing was installed at a play area in Braintree to stop children getting onto a busy nearby road.
