The UK security minister has said that he will not rest until the Olympic Games have passed off without incident.

James Brokenshire was speaking before a counter-terrorism incident exercise is carried out in the capital from Wednesday (February 22nd).

It will involve more than 2,500 people, and will test out the reaction of emergency services as a fake attack is carried out on the underground.

A large effort has gone into getting security fencing in place for the games, while a number of other events have also been planned to ensure that officials can react if the worst was to happen.

Last month, the Royal Marines took part in a week of security exercises on the Thames, joining forces with the Metropolitan Police's Marine Policing Unit.

"We will leave nothing to chance to ensure we deliver a safe and secure Games. I cannot sleep easy until we have handed over to Rio de Janeiro," he told the Daily Telegraph.
