Trees, traffic signs and even security bollards were blown over as severe gales hit Dorset on Monday evening (December 12th).
Reports by the Dorset Echo said that winds of 80mph engulfed the region causing havoc for residents in the area. Emergency services were inundated with phone calls as falling debris caused damage to homes.
Dorset Police told the source: "We had reports about wind-related troubles throughout Monday night, with a total of 55 calls. There were fallen trees pretty much everywhere in Dorset, with Dorchester, Blandford and Shaftsbury particularly badly affected."
Winds uprooted trees causing them to fall on homes whereas four cars were trapped in flooding on the A352, to the north of Mintere Magna.
A village went without power overnight after a telephone pole was blown over in Morecombelake leaving 26 homes in the dark.
The recent bad weather is causing havoc across the British Isles with the Met Office issuing an 'amber warning' of snow across many parts of the country.
