The security fencing has been lifted around a new play area in Shipley, Derbyshire, to signal the completion of the first phase of work.
Situated in the town's country park the development includes a 50 metre cableway, large slide, swings and climbing equipment, which councillors hope will prove popular with local children and residents in the area.
The £110,000 playground was partly-funded by UK Coal as well as Derbyshire Council which provided £40,000 towards the project. The second phase is due to be completed in the summer with the mining company injecting more funds.
Councillor Simon Spencer, cabinet member for highways and transport, said: "The new play area is already proving extremely popular and we hope it encourages even more people to visit this beautiful country park. This is part of our aim to encourage as many people to enjoy the Derbyshire countryside."
UK Coal is the country's biggest producer of coal and accounts for five per cent of all electricity generated in the country.
