Sliding gates could be installed near a shopping centre in Bristol to curb cases of anti-social behaviour.
Residents living close to a pedestrian route that provides access to Willow Brook Centre in the Bradley Stoke area of the city say people walking past their homes are responsible for excessive noise, the BBC reports.
The centre's management has submitted a proposal to install metal gates that would only open between 07:00 and 20:00, meaning noise would be significantly reduced outside of these times.
Planning documents suggest the gate will be accompanied by a three-foot-high fence.
Willow Brook said in a letter to South Gloucestershire Council that the measure would "ensure the disruption... is kept to a minimum", the BBC reported.
"The aim and objective of the proposed development is to reduce the anti-social behaviour taking place at the site," it also said.
A final decision will be reached in April.
The centre is home to a Tesco Extra, a Subway and an O2 shop, among others.
