Sound proof fencing has been installed on a road in Ellesmere Port to combat the noise from lorries passing through a village.
The acoustic fence is being built in the village of Elton, the Ellesmere Port Pioneer reports.
Adrian Curry, chief executive of Quinn Glass, the firm responsible for installing the barrier, told the newspaper that it had been erected following concerns raised about vehicle noise during a public planning enquiry.
"These were submitted to the council and, after careful consideration and consultation, the local authority conditioned Quinn Glass to erect the sound barrier currently under construction," he said.
However, some residents are against the fence, which they say will ruin views of the local countryside.
It has also been reported that a new Tesco development in Welling will incorporate acoustic fencing. News Shopper said that developers of the project are set to install sound proof fencing to reduce noise.
