Tranmere Rovers Football Club will be using new sports netting in the future as it looks to build a new training facility in the Woodchurch area.

The club is looking to move all of its training operations to the site at the Woodchurch leisure centre as it constructs changing rooms and medical facilities.

Furthermore, two planning applications submitted to the local council include making football and hockey pitches available to the local community, reports wirralnews.co.uk.

A statement by the club, quoted by the news provider, said that there are also plans for the leisure centre already there.

"As part of the application (at Woodchurch) the existing leisure centre will be refurbished, improving the facilities for the local community," it said.

"In addition to club training pitches, the application outlines plans for community football and hockey pitches."
According to the Liverpool Daily Post, the club will look at building nearly 100 homes on its former training ground to raise £5 million for its funds.
