Security fencing is set to be put around a play area in Stapenhill, Staffordshire, as part of refurbishment work.

The green spaces in the area are set to be subject of a £35,000 renovation project and the playground will benefit from this. Contractors will refurbish the Tower Woods facility which they believe will "increase the play value" of the site.

According to the Burton Mail, the team commissioned to undertake the work will "give young people a more exciting place to play" in Brizlincote Valley. The renovation will see the installation of new equipment and will mean that the play area is closed for three weeks while construction is taking place.

Bernard Peters, ward member for the Brizlincote area on East Staffordshire Borough Council, told the source: "The authority continues to show its commitment to listening to residents and providing safe and enjoyable play areas to the children of East Staffordshire."

Local children in Lancashire are also celebrating after a Blackrod play area is set to receive a £100,000 cash boost for development.
