A service in Teesside has marked 150 years of steel production – which is used in security fencing – in the region.
The event at Christ Church, in Redcar, was led by Dr John Sentamu, the Archbishop of York.
Teesside has cause for celebration – last month, security fencing production in the UK was given a major boost when Tata Steel Europe, formerly Corus, sold Teesside Cast Products to SSI, the largest steel producer in Thailand.
The deal saved hundreds of jobs, is set to create hundreds of new ones and looks to have secured steel production for the north-east for some years to come.
Dr Sentamu, who visited the plant last year after it had closed, said: "The steel industry lies at the heart of the community on Teesside and this event provides the opportunity to celebrate the industry's future as well as the past.
"The news that the steel plant at Redcar will reopen soon is good news as it will bring hundreds of much needed jobs to the area."
