Efforts have been made to give security fencing at one train station a bit of lift, as they have been painted to make them appear more attractive.

Little Sutton Station has benefited from the improvements, which have been made possible by the Corporate Friends of Little Sutton Station from the Ellesmere Port service centre of Veolia Environmental Services.

A team of 15 volunteers were responsible for applying the paint that will act as a blank canvas for community groups to express their creativity on, reports the Ellesmere Port Pioneer.

Local member councillor Ben Powell said: "This is one of many projects that the Friends group will be undertaking to improve this historic station.

"I would urge anyone interested in getting involved with station projects to make contact with our dedicated officer."

This follows the news that a pair of teenagers have handed themselves into police after being captured damaging parking barriers at Carlisle railway station.
