Vandals have again struck a playground in Abronhill, preventing people from using the facilities and creating the possibility for spending on higher play area fencing.

The skate park has been frequently targeted in the last few weeks with graffiti being sprayed and a wall dismantled, according to Cumbernauld-news.co.uk.

Local residents are now upset at how the park has been targeted so much after it was opened six years ago, following funding to the sum of £250,000.

Helen Hutcheson of Abronhill Learning Trust told the news provider that the problems seem to be getting worse at the park.

"The park was built by the people but the damage, especially to the wall, has been particularly bad in the last three weeks," she explained.

"It's difficult to see how we can raise the money for anything else if the money we do bring in is all spent on repairs."

Meanwhile, a school in York is thought to be considering high security fencing after vandalism and trespassing took place recently.
