Play area fencing could be the next feature to be installed in Wheathampstead following funding from the Department of Education, Hertfordshire County Council and donations from two local churches.

A zip wire and wooden climbing frame have already been put in place after consultation with residents as to what they would like in a playground.

Additionally, seating and bins are there to make sure families are able to enjoy their experience of the park, reports hertsad.co.uk.

Councillor Geoff Harrison, the deputy mayor, told the news provider that he is delighted at how everyone has worked together on the project.

"This is an excellent example of how local residents and people from a variety of organisations with a united aim can drive a project forward," he explained.

"Thanks to the local schools and steering group members who were instrumental in generating local support for this play area to be redeveloped."

Last week it was announced that Arbroath play area fencing will be installed following a £500,000 grant.
