Councillors were said to be delighted after the security fencing went up around the site of a new play area in Anahilt, Lisburn.
The local authority was pleased that the plans had finally got underway to create a facility for children and toddlers in the immediate area. As part of the £83,000 scheme, the council will install a host of new equipment, giving a sufficient boost to the surrounding neighbourhood.
It just one of a host of play areas that have either been completed, or are in the process of being built across the UK.
With the Olympic Games fast-approaching, many councils will be eager to encourage outdoor exercise and these playgrounds are just one step an authority can take.
Thomas Beckett, chairman of Lisburn City Council's leisure services committee, told the Ulster Star: "The council is very keen to ensure that local communities within the Lisburn area have access to leisure facilities; and this play area is one of its newest capital development projects."
