Work to renovate a war memorial has gotten underway in Lightcliffe, West Yorkshire.
The refurbishment includes removing chipped paint from the surrounding metal railings with any exposed bars being repainted and missing ones replaced. It will also encompass the improving of any fascia plates that have been damaged.
According to the Halifax Courier, work is due to be completed by the end of the month, weather permitting, and it is hoped that it will restore the site back to its former glory.
The memorial was originally erected in 1923 as a tribute to those who had died serving in the army during World War I and is one of over 40 similar sites across the Yorkshire area.
A Calderdale Council spokesperson told the source: "The work is part of the council's commitment to keeping our parks, recreation grounds and memorial sites well maintained. The next phase of work is due to start after Easter."
