Steel gates have been erected to step up security at a retail store in Hertfordshire.
According to the Mercury, a Homebase site in Waltham Cross has installed steel gates in response to concerns over dangerous driving in its car park.
A spokesperson for Broxbourne Council told the newspaper: "Residents in Waltham Cross contacted the council in August about a problem with vehicles racing and performing stunts noisily in the car park of the local Homebase."
Because the gates can be locked when the store is closed, access to the car park is blocked.
A range of security measures can prove useful in combating problems like boy racers. Traffic barriers, for example, were recently installed at a Morrisons car park described as a "stunt arena" by local residents.
The Shropshire Star reported how drivers were meeting in the car park late at night, driving dangerously and performing stunts.
But now security barriers are in place which make it impossible for them to access the site.
