Challenge

Leading school fencing specialist and UK manufacturer, Jacksons Fencing knows that educational budgets are often constrained. To support a school in creating a safe learning environment, Jacksons ran a national competition where one deserving establishment could win £3,000 worth of Jacksons’ products to renovate their perimeter. Brownlow Primary School in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire won with an inspired poem entry:

We’ve been rated “Good” by Ofsted, of which we’re very proud. But when you visit us, our railings cry out loud.

After 90 years of service, they’ve seen much better days. We’d love to replace them all, but we can’t afford to pay.

It’s more than a lick of paint they need, And even if we all worked at top speed, With nearly 200 metres to complete, The thought leaves us feeling beat.

We’re now aiming for “Outstanding” and what better place to start, Than the perimeter of the school, past which hundreds walk and park?

Like all head teachers, Mr. Turrell wants his pupils and staff to be safe and secure, which is why he chose Barbican^® Fencing. The vertical bar steel panels are Secured by Design approved and feature a pale-through-rail construction for added security, as well as delivering a seamless, stylish and architecturally appropriate perimeter for the school building, which dates from the Edwardian era.
