Security fencing should be installed around a children's play area in Henley-on-Thames to protect youngsters from dogs, a councillor has said.
According to the Henley Standard, Chrissie Phillips-Tilbury wants to stop residents walking their animals at the Sonning Common play area, which cost around £28,000 and features a climbing frame and activity trail.
"Almost every other play area has fencing and a gate and I wonder whether the council would consider the same here," Phillips-Tilbury, who also asked about fencing in 2009, told the newspaper.
At the time she said she had witnessed people using the site to exercise their dogs and said it could be a health and safety issue.
"I think dog owners would think twice before opening a gate and walking into the area," she said.
This month, it was reported that security fencing has been installed at a school playground in Watford.
The school fencing at Maple Cross JMI School was put up before Christmas, but bad weather hampered its opening until this month, the Watford Observer reported.
