A horse that had become stuck in some security fencing has been freed by firefighters.

The horse became stuck in fencing in Staining in Blackpool on Saturday morning, the town's Gazette newspaper said.

The area was cordoned off and diversions set up while the fire service and police arrived to help the animal.

Recently, a deer was rescued after it became caught in school fencing in Lancashire.

It got is antlers wrapped in the fencing around the playing fields of Grange Community Technology College in Rawtenstall, the Lancashire Telegraph reported.

The fencing had been installed as a temporary measure while the school built its new sixth form centre.

Luckily it was spotted by an off-duty firefighter who alerted the authorities.

A sheet was placed over the deer's head to calm it down, and the fire service used cutters to free the animal, which then wandered off into woodland nearby.
