Residents of Littlemore are calling for security bollards to be put into the ground along one street in the town to stop travelling families from building a camp there.

Around six vehicles and two caravans are thought to use the site in Long Lane every year, but locals are getting frustrated at the anti-social behaviour that occurs.

Bollards are now being proposed for the area to stop people getting access to the site, the Oxford Times reports.

Andrew Smith, MP for Oxford East, told the news provider that while there has always been history at the site, improvements would not be difficult to make.

"It's not their presence that's the problem, it's the disruption and the mess that need to be rectified," he explained.

"The residents and parish councillors can count on my total support for this."

The Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust said that it is considering high security fencing after a local park was infiltrated by travellers.
