Security fencing is set to come down after the construction of a new soft play area in Lancaster was completed.

The Lancaster Guardian has reported that the indoor play area will create 20 jobs in the area and has cost a total of £100,000. The play area, known as The Zone, will be situated in Dalton Square and contain the country's largest indoor slide measuring eight metres.

Owners Gillian Peet and Jeff Farrow, who have a number of Zone play areas across the region, are keeping plans of what the completed site will look like under wraps until the unveiling on today (December 19th).

A number of play areas both indoor and outdoor have been given grants for regeneration over the past months with a play area in Wickhambrook being handed a £90,000 payment for renovating the park.

The parish council in the area had asked for the grant after it claimed that the current facilities did "not meet health and safety guidelines".
