Traffic barriers may be a permanent fixture in Swansea, as local residents have seen congestion levels increase over recent months.

The South Wales Evening Post has received a swathe of comments from disgruntled motorists, who have voiced concerns over a series of traffic-related problems.

Last week, drivers were delayed by around 40 minutes after lights at a pedestrian crossing malfunctioned.

One website user Paulyooo told the news provider: "In my opinion the layout of the roads has caused chaos.

"At night, there are too many lanes and cones going in too many directions - with few signs displayed."

TomTom recently named the most congested areas of the UK, with London unsurprisingly ranking in first place, followed by Edinburgh and Oxford in second and third.

Other cities ranking inside the top ten included Bradford, Manchester, Aberdeen and Nottingham, while Bedford, Colchester, Newport, York and Chester were named the least congested.
