New traffic barriers may be needed on a road in Worthing after the previous pillars sent a car and minibus into the air.

Worthing Borough Council has announced that "a couple of incidents" have been reported after the new technology was installed only a month ago.

The Argus reports that a woman driving a minibus waited too long at the green light, set up and was promptly sent into the air.

A spokeswoman for the council told the news provider that people must ensure that they do not go through the system when the entry system is showing red.

She added: "If anyone wants vehicular access to the promenade, then all they need to do is draw up to the barrier - staying in the hatched area, press the buzzer, make their request and then when given the OK wait for the light to turn 'green' indicating it is safe to move forward."

Traffic barriers could also be needed in Shepherd's Bush after a new organic butchers was opened earlier this month.
