Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust (WCLT) could be considering installation of high security fencing in a local park after a group of travellers set up camp on the site.

One group were forced to leave Walmsley Park after being served with a court order, but no sooner had they gone more travellers arrived.

Wigan Today reports that WLCT, which managed the park on behalf of the council, has now gone back to court to obtain another order.

A spokesman for the Trust told the news provider that new security measures are being looked into and will be brought in following their disappearance.

He said: "After learning the land had been re-occupied by another group we then went to court on Monday to secure a notice of possession which was served on the group yesterday, giving them 48 hours to move on.

"After the group has left the land we will be putting in enhanced security measures to stop this happening again in the future."

Earlier this month, 40 different caravans breached a car park in Greenfield Community in Mill Hill, Lancashire.
