Peter Jackson, Sales Director for Jacksons Fencing has been appointed Group Vice Chairman of the Site Security & Access Control Group for the Data Centre Alliance, which is the International Association for the Data Centre Industry. Peter will work alongside Group Chairman, David Ayers, Security Services Manager for Telehouse Group.

Peter, whose area of expertise lies in servicing the high security sector of Jacksons’ extensive business portfolio, is regularly involved in managing problematical perimeter security projects from the strategic planning phase through to the final installation.  His involvement in the data centre industry spans many years although the confidential nature of such installations prohibits the release of any specific details.

The Site Security and Access Control Group represents a new initiative intended to improve the level of understanding regarding physical security requirements for data centre sites.  Commenting on the appointment, Peter Jackson says “I am delighted to accept this role and look forward to working with David to drive a programme designed to create a heightened awareness of the importance of effective physical security strategies for the data centre industry. Any data centre has an innate responsibility to guard and preserve highly sensitive information but all too often the focus is on the protocol required to deliver a premier standard of data protection with less emphasis placed on the significant obligation to incorporate a layer of robust physical defence systems into the overall security architecture of the site.”
