The pioneering range has been developed in response to a growing need for security solutions that protect people as well as property. Developed by the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) in consultation with organisations including the National Protective Security Authority (NPSA), National Counter Terrorism Security Office (NaCTSO), and other industry stakeholders, LPS 1673 was created specifically to assess a product's ability to delay violent forced entry attacks targeting individuals and high value assets.
Unlike traditional security standards, which are primarily focused on preventing unauthorised access and burglary, LPS 1673 addresses evolving threat profiles including violent home invasions, marauding attacks, targeted assaults against high profile individuals, and other determined attacks where the objective is to harm occupants rather than simply gain entry.
By delaying attackers, LPS 1673 certified products are designed to create critical intervention time, enabling occupants to reach a place of safety, activate emergency procedures, and increase opportunities for security or police response.
A new specification option for residential security
As demand grows for discreet yet effective residential security measures, specifiers increasingly face the challenge of balancing protection requirements with planning, aesthetic, and environmental considerations.
Jacksons' new certified timber fencing range bridges that gap, combining independently tested attack resistance with the appearance and landscape integration expected in premium residential developments, private estates, and high value homes.
The range has been developed with applications including:
- High net worth residential properties
- Private estates and country residences
- Executive housing developments
- Residential schemes requiring enhanced security measures
- Sites identified through Designing Out Crime principles
The products are also expected to support specifications from Designing Out Crime Officers (DOCOs), security consultants, architects, and landscape professionals seeking security solutions that do not compromise visual appeal.
In addition, the range is being developed to achieve Secured by Design Police Preferred Specification accreditation, providing further reassurance for specifiers and end users.
Certified timber security solutions
The initial LPS 1673 certified portfolio includes:
- Shadowline® A30E
- Vertical Tongue and Groove A30E
- Convex Tongue and Groove A30E
- 12k Envirofence® A30E
- Jakoustic® A60E
The introduction of independently certified timber systems expands the range of options available to specifiers seeking security rated perimeter protection while maintaining a natural, high quality appearance.
Understanding LPS 1673 classifications
LPS 1673 classifies products according to both the attack methodology and the delay time they achieve during testing.
The "A" classification is intended to resist opportunist attacks involving bodily force and small, easily concealed weapons or tools used by attackers intending to cause harm.
The numerical classification represents the minimum delay time achieved during testing:
- A30 = minimum 30 seconds attack resistance
- A60 = minimum 60 seconds attack resistance
Products carrying the "E" suffix have additionally demonstrated resistance to attacks involving a fire extinguisher, a tactic that can be used to impair visibility and facilitate an attack.
While delay times may appear modest in isolation, within a layered security strategy they can provide valuable intervention time for occupants and responders.
Live demonstrations at International Security Expo
Some products in the new range were showcased at International Security Expo, where visitors had the opportunity to explore the products and discuss applications with Jacksons' security specialists.
Selected systems also underwent live attack testing in the LPCB Zone, allowing visitors to witness the performance requirements of LPS 1673 in a real-world testing environment.
The demonstrations provided valuable insight into the testing methodology behind the standard and the engineering considerations required to achieve certification.

Raising the standard for residential perimeter security
The launch marks a significant development for both Jacksons and the wider security sector.
By becoming the first manufacturer to bring LPS 1673 certified timber fencing to market, Jacksons is expanding the range of tested and certified perimeter solutions available to specifiers and providing a new option for projects where aesthetics, landscape integration, and attack resistance must work together.
The introduction of independently tested timber systems gives security consultants, architects, Designing Out Crime Officers and contractors greater flexibility when specifying perimeter protection for residential applications. Whether the priority is safeguarding high value homes, protecting vulnerable occupants, or achieving security objectives without creating an overtly defensive appearance, the new range offers a practical solution that balances performance with design.
Combining British manufacturing, independent certification, and decades of perimeter security expertise, the new range establishes a new benchmark for residential perimeter protection.
