With a growing fleet of heavy vehicles and expanding infrastructure, the company required a robust and secure perimeter solution for one of its key operational depots. The site needed to provide controlled access for vehicles and staff while ensuring protection of valuable equipment, materials and property after hours.

As a logistics and aggregate handling business, the Ovenden site experienced high daily traffic volumes. This included tipper trucks, delivery vehicles, and plant equipment. Additionally, the depot often stores heavy machinery and bulk materials such as sand, gravel and recycled aggregates, making it a high value target for opportunistic theft or unauthorised access. The client required a fencing and access control solution that would offer long-term durability, professional appearance, and minimal maintenance.

The Challenge

The primary challenge on this project was integrating a secure fencing solution into a busy, operational yard without interrupting daily logistics and vehicle access. The client required a strong and versatile fencing system capable of withstanding the wear and tear of an industrial environment, while maintaining a professional image aligned with the company’s brand.

Security was a key concern, particularly around safeguarding high value materials and equipment overnight and during weekends. The perimeter needed to be completely enclosed, with all access points controllable and clearly defined.

There were also specific technical considerations due to the layout of the site. Access points had to accommodate a variety of vehicle sizes, from small vans to articulated tipper lorries. Turning circles had to be preserved, so the positioning and type of gates were critical. Swing gates and sliding gates had to function reliably in an environment that often includes uneven ground and high dust levels typical of aggregate handling sites.

Weather resistance was also a factor. The client needed a long-lasting finish on both the fence panels and gates to avoid corrosion, having to complete the project again within a short period of time , and to ensure the installation retained its visual appeal for years to come.
