A perimeter and access solution was designed using our Anti Trap Bow Top steel fencing with matching gates. This steel fencing system was selected for its proven safety credentials, durability, and suitability for educational environments.  

Anti Trap Bow Top is a widely used steel fencing solution for schools, nurseries and play areas due to its child friendly design. The wider gaps between each hoop above the top rail prevent children from getting their heads, necks, or limbs trapped between the pales. The design complies with BS EN 1176 playground safety standards and is RoSPA approved, making it an essential consideration for any infant school.  

As with all our steel vertical bar and metal railing products, the fencing is manufactured from hot dip galvanised steel to BS EN 1462, ensuring long term resistance to rust and corrosion. The fencing and gates were powder coated black to provide a smart, durable finish and the installation is also covered by our 25 year service life guarantee.

To meet the school’s operational needs, a double leaf automated gate was installed at the main entrance. This gate enables authorised vehicles to access the site safely and efficiently, with the automated system operated remotely, improving security and convenience for deliveries, staff parking, and controlled visitor entry. The automated gate was constructed using the same Anti Trap Bow Top design for consistency, safety, and strong visual appeal. 

Alongside the vehicle entrance, a single leaf pedestrian gate was installed to provide a dedicated access point for pupils, parents, and visitors. The gate provides a safe, clearly defined pedestrian route on the pavement, reducing the risk of crossing paths with vehicles, which is especially important during busy drop off and pick up periods.  

To complete the frontage, Anti Trap Bow Top fence panels were installed between the gates and the existing boundary. The panels ensure that the entire perimeter line was secure, visually cohesive, and compliant with the school’s safeguarding requirements. 

The metal railing design provides clear visibility for supervision, while the new installation delivers a secure perimeter that protects the school from intruders and supports safe daily operations. Combined with automated vehicle access, a dedicated pedestrian entrance, and child safe fencing, the school can now manage its front boundary effectively throughout the day. The powder coated finish ensures long lasting protection and a professional appearance that complements the school’s surroundings.
