St Swithun’s School has a long-standing reputation for excellence; providing outstanding educational, sporting, and pastoral opportunities for girls aged 3-18. As part of its continued investment in student facilities, the school completed a major sports development project, including a new indoor netball and tennis centre designed to support sport throughout the year and increase opportunities for both pupils and the wider community. The facility includes space for three netball courts, four tennis courts, eight pickleball courts, a strength and conditioning suite, and spectator facilities. The project was delivered by Doe Sport (North) Ltd and completed in 2025.
Having first supplied and installed a metal school gate for the school in 2009, we were pleased to once again be selected to provide the entrance solution for this important new development. The new sports facility represented one of the most significant additions to the school's campus in recent years. The entrance needed to make an immediate positive impression on students, parents, visitors, and community groups using the facility.

Drawing on our extensive experience in manufacturing and installing premium metal gate systems, we supplied and installed an arched top ornamental metal gate finished in a premium black polyester powder coating.
The design was carefully selected to match the existing school entrance gates, maintaining a cohesive appearance across the campus while complementing the newly completed sports facility and creating an entrance worthy of the school's significant investment. Our ornamental metal gate systems are manufactured using a welded pale-through-rail construction. This method delivers exceptional structural strength while creating a clean, high quality appearance without the need for visible fixings. The pale-through-rail design produces a robust and visually balanced structure ideally suited to educational environments.
Concealed fixings were incorporated throughout the design. This approach is particularly important in schools where undoing fixings could be seen as a fun activity for pupils while waiting for lessons or during breaktimes. It also provides a cleaner finish with reduced visual clutter, and increased security against tampering and vandalism.
The metal school gate combines traditional styling with modern engineering and security standards.
The gate was finished using a durable black polyester powder coating. Powder coating offers significant advantages over traditional painting for external metal gate installations:
