Play area fencing could be among the improvements made in Essex as one playground in the county nears a £30,000 makeover.

The Gore in Basildon will see existing play equipment taken away and replaced with brand new pieces from September 7th, reports echo-news.co.uk.

Furthermore, the money - which has come from construction firm Barratt Wilson - will see swings, a slide, a climbing net and rope ladder installed.

Phil Turner, a Basildon councillor responsible for resources, told the news provider that he hopes more families will use the facilities after changes take place.

"We are committed to investing in our key play areas across the borough, and I am delighted that we can use £30,000 of external funds to do this," he said.

"These improvements will encourage more parents and grandparents to take their children to use the play area and will help to make it a focal point for the community."

Funding has also been generated for a playground in Wrexham through the government's Communities First Outcomes Fund, it was announced this week.
