A new pedestrian guardrail could be required in the Burnley area after a discount shoe chain announced that it would be opening a new store in the town.

Wynsors will open a new outlet on the former site of Carpetright, situated close to Church Street, in the heart of Burnley Town Centre.

The Bolton News reports that around 20 to 30 people will be employed at the shop and it is expected to be unveiled sometime this year.

Brian Hobbs, president of Burnley Chamber of Trade, told the news provide that it is excellent news for future growth in the area.

"It is good news when we have got a big brand name like Wynsor’s coming to town," he explained.

"It is encouraging when someone like this has the confidence to set up shop in Burnley, and no doubt our name will now form part of their television advertising as well."

Formed in 1956, Wynsors how has several stores across the north of England including in Barnsley, Leeds and Sunderland.
