Scottish primary school installs security fencing following vandalism

Scottish primary school installs security fencing following vandalism
A Scottish primary school is to have security fencing installed in the coming months following several incidents of vandalism.

St John Vianney in The Inch will see fencing erected this autumn despite problems in finding funding for the perimeter.

The £100,000 cost was said to be unavailable by the local council, despite problems that have included the damage of £10,000 of playground equipment because of fire, reports

Tracy Latimer, chair of the parent council at St John Vianney, told the news provider of her happiness that a compromise has been made.

"We are delighted because we have been campaigning for this since 2007. We have been told that the work on the fence will be completed by autumn," she explained.

"We hope this will be a fresh start for the school and the community."

Vandalism has also led to the installation of security fencing in Billericay after £25,000 worth of damage was caused.
