could have stopped a woman's dogs from gaining access to a railway track and dying after colliding with a train in a tunnel, it has been reported.
According to the Free Press, the woman's dogs got onto the track at the Severn Tunnel Junction, in Wales, via a new platform entrance that has been developed.
"They were so special to me and although it was a tragic accident - I can't help but feel that if a fence was there the dogs wouldn't have been able to get onto the track," the Rogiet resident told the newspaper.
It is thought that the German Shepherd and Border Collie pets went missing because workmen left a door open when carrying out maintenance work at the woman's home.
Unsure as to the whereabouts of her pets, the woman was formally informed of the accident five days later.
A friend of the hers told the newspaper: "The opening leads out to a busy platform and is only a 100 yards away from a park - what if a child had wandered through there and been killed?"
A spokesperson for Network Rail said the firm would investigate the incident.
The Severn Tunnel Junction is one of the most well-used stations in Wales.
