Security bollards are going missing in Waltham Forest – much to the mystery of local traders.

According to the Waltham Forest Guardian, about six bollards in Queen's Road, in the Buckhurst Hill area of the borough, have gone missing in the space of a few weeks.

Traders are concerned because deep holes now stand where the bollards used to be, and could be a potential hazard.

"I'm a bit concerned because cars are parked facing towards my shop and if the bollards aren't there, people might not know where to stop," Patrick Lumley, who owns a carpet shop in the area, told the newspaper.

"If a kid walked past them, their whole foot could go down," he added.

It is thought the bollards have been stolen after being hit by motorists.

The chairwoman of Epping Forest Chamber of Commerce seconded the traders' concerns, saying that it was attempting to find out who is responsible.
