A family in Winchester have called for the installation of crash barriers and security bollards after a double-decker bus crashed into a historic 200-year-old wall at their home.
According to the Hampshire Chronicle, debris rained onto the garden of the Camerons when the bus rammed the wall, part of which is believed to come from Wolvesey Castle.
The bus crashed when it passed a police car, it was reported.
Anita Cameron told the newspaper that her insurance policy will not fully cover the cost of repairs, thought to run into thousands of pounds.
"It looks like an earthquake has struck. What I can say is that it's absolutely shocking. It could have killed us," she told the newspaper.
She added that two other incidents had occurred twice in the past six years.
Neighbour Patricia Williamson told the newspaper: "Ever since I moved here a few months ago I've expected something like this to happen. We need some crash barriers or bollards."
Earlier this month, the introduction of security bollards was praised by residents close to a car park in Shropshire which had been plagued by boy racers.
